It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted at Book Journey.

What I’m currently reading is Wild Awake by Hilary T. Smith.

16065521Things you earnestly believe will happen while your parents are away:

1. You will remember to water the azaleas.
2. You will take detailed, accurate messages.
3. You will call your older brother, Denny, if even the slightest thing goes wrong.
4. You and your best friend/bandmate Lukas will win Battle of the Bands.
5. Amid the thrill of victory, Lukas will finally realize you are the girl of his dreams.

Things that actually happen:

1. A stranger calls who says he knew your sister.
2. He says he has her stuff.
3. What stuff? Her stuff.
4. You tell him your parents won’t be able to—
5. Sukey died five years ago; can’t he—
6. You pick up a pen.
7. You scribble down the address.
8. You get on your bike and go.
9. Things . . . get a little crazy after that.*
*also, you fall in love, but not with Lukas.

It’s interesting so far. Hope it doesn’t disappoint! Another book I have waiting to be read (not counting the rest of my enormous queue, sigh) is:

7514925Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn’t believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she’s ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland’s inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she’s always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it’s the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who’s everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

I’ve decided I’ll also do my utmost to read the Francesca Lia Block books I have waiting for me, but no expectations! I’m so bad at this stuff. What are you reading this week?

  1. Tiger Lily was one of my favorites, read in 2013! I hope you like it–I couldn’t put it down. Wild Awake sounds good too–I have been seeing it in a lot of reviews lately.
I’m finishing up Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell today.

    1. Oh, that sounds great! I do like the premise of Tiger Lily, so let’s hope I like it as much as you did. Yeah, Wild Awake is going pretty well too. And I loved Fangirl, hope you like it too!

    1. It’s coming along nicely, but I’m not yet seriously pulled in. I’ll just have to keep reading, I guess! Happy reading to you too!

Got something to say?
